    Product information

What is a Cast Forged Ball Valve?

    • Definition: A ball valve made from either cast steel (molten metal poured into molds) or forged steel (metal shaped under high pressure).
    • Key Difference:
      • Cast Ball Valve: Economical, suitable for general service, complex shapes possible.
      • Forged Ball Valve: Stronger, denser grain structure, better for high-pressure and critical applications.
    • Operation: Quarter-turn (90°) ball rotation to open/close flow.

     Types of Cast/Forged Ball Valves

    Type Characteristics Typical Applications
Floating Ball Valve Ball floats between seats, seals by pressure Water, gas, oil pipelines
Trunnion Mounted Ball Valve Ball supported by trunnions, reduces seat wear High-pressure oil & gas
Full Port (Full Bore) Bore size = pipe size, minimal pressure drop Process industries
Reduced Port (Standard Bore) Smaller bore, compact, lower cost HVAC, utilities
3-Way / 4-Way Ball Valve Diverts or mixes flow Distribution, mixing systems
Top Entry Ball Valve Maintenance without removing valve from pipeline Power plants, petrochemical
