    What is a Foot Valve?

    • A foot valve is a type of non-return (check) valve installed at the bottom of a suction pipe in pumping systems.
    • It prevents backflow of liquid and keeps the pump primed by holding liquid in the suction line.
    • It usually has a strainer screen to filter out debris and protect the pump.

     Types of Foot Valves

    Type Description Best Use

Flanged Foot Valve Larger size, bolted flanges Industrial pipelines
PVC/Plastic Foot Valve Lightweight, corrosion-resistant Irrigation, agricultural use
Metallic Foot Valve Cast iron, bronze, stainless steel Heavy-duty industrial systems
